Background

The Victoria Palace Theatre, magnificently restored for the 21st century, reopened on 6th December 2017 with the European premiere of Lin-Manuel Miranda's acclaimed, Pulitzer Prize winning Hamilton. These significant upgrades to all eight Delfont Mackintosh theatres demonstrate Cameron Mackintosh's major financial commitment to maintaining his theatres to the highest possible standards to give the audiences and artists a memorable theatrical experience.

The Solution

On the roofs Alwitra Evalastic single ply membrane was used - an eco-friendly roofing membrane which is free from bitumen, chlorine, plasticisers & PVC.

The perimeter cappings and cornice detailing was weathered with lead sheet.

The terraces were weathered with Radmat's PermaQuik hot melt system and ProTherm Quantum insulation system - made up of Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIP), accompanied by thermoset infill boards which are designed to cut and fit around penetrations and curved upstands.

Hot Melt waterproofing system for use on zero falls and flat roofs in either an inverted roof specification, a green roof, on podium decks, balconies, walkways or a protected roof specification. Suitable for refurbishment, new build and green roof applications.

A ProTherm Quantum Pure inverted roof system is the thinnest solution possible where the severe lack of space calls for using just the Quantum panel. Even in these challenging conditions this system will offer outstanding results.
